Professional Summary
Ir. Dr. Goh Hui Weng is a Senior Lecturer at the River Engineering and Urban Drainage Research Centre (REDAC), USM Engineering Campus. She has been actively engaged in national and international research and consultancy projects on Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), with a focus on constructed wetland systems (CWS) and bioretention systems.
In addition to her research, she serves as a facilitator for training programs and workshops organized by government agencies and national organizations, including the National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM), the Department of Sewerage Services Malaysia (JPP), and the Malaysian Stormwater Organisation (MSO). Her expertise lies in constructed wetland design and applications, stormwater best management practices (BMPs), water quality modeling, urban drainage management, and water resources management.
Ir. Dr. Goh Hui Weng is a Senior Lecturer at the River Engineering and Urban Drainage Research Centre (REDAC), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She is a Professional Engineer (Malaysia) and a certified trainer recognized by the Ministries of Manpower in Malaysia and Singapore. Her research and consultancy focus on hydro-environmental engineering and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for sustainable water management, particularly constructed wetland systems and bioretention systems for wastewater and stormwater treatment.
Ir. Dr. Goh has published research on the design and performance of bioretention and constructed wetlands in tropical climates, contributing to the development of sustainable and climate-resilient water infrastructure. She has collaborated with government agencies including the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), Department of Sewerage Services (JPP), and the National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM) on projects related to urban drainage and water quality management.
In 2025, she was selected for the Talented Young Scientist Program (TYSP) for an academic attachment at Chongqing University, an international mobility program funded by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) to foster global scientific collaboration.
