Professional Summary
Assoc. Prof. LAr. Dr. Nor Atiah Ismail is an academic, researcher, and landscape architecture professional. She is the President of the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM) (2024–2026) and an Associate Professor at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She is also an expert panel member of the National Heritage Department of Malaysia and PADAT.
With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Atiah has led numerous research projects, secured research grants, mentored postgraduate students, and published over 150 journal papers. Her research focuses on landscape architecture, sustainable development, cultural heritage conservation, and the preservation of Orang Asli cultural landscapes.
Dr. Atiah is also an international speaker and advocate for sustainable landscapes, urban greening, and cultural heritage. She has contributed to various national and international organisations, promoting nature-based solutions and strengthening efforts to protect Malaysia’s natural and cultural heritage.
